Join writer and researcher Erin E. Moulton as we explore five female poisoners from American history, the drinks that did them in, and the trials that followed their deadly deeds.
We’ll travel from a case of contaminated gin in 1890s Maine to a small barn dance with a horrifying twist in 1920s California. We’ll chase down prohibition era rumrunners and investigate one of New England’s most famous serial killers. Which drink was the deadliest? What motivation did each woman have? And were they all truly guilty of the crime?

April Advocacy Network

Join Stay Work Play’s Advocacy Network for our April Lunch & Learn conversation exploring the intersection of clean energy policy, affordability, and the future of New Hampshire’s workforce and communities.
As we lean into Earth Month, we’re excited to welcome Sam Evans-Brown, President of Clean Energy New Hampshire, for a conversation on the energy policies shaping the Granite State today and the opportunities ahead.
Sam will share insights into Clean Energy NH’s legislative priorities this session, the role energy policy plays in economic competitiveness, and what’s on the horizon for building a more resilient and sustainable future in New Hampshire.
We’ll also take a closer look at the Balcony Solar bill, a creative policy idea gaining traction across the country that aims to expand access to renewable energy for renters and residents in multifamily housing.
This conversation will explore questions like:
How can energy policy help make New Hampshire more affordable and competitive?
What innovations are emerging in clean energy access?
What policies are gaining traction this legislative session?
How can young people engage in shaping NH’s environmental and energy future?
Whether you’re a policy enthusiast, sustainability advocate, or simply curious about how energy policy impacts daily life in New Hampshire, this is a great opportunity to learn, ask questions, and connect with others engaged in shaping the state’s future.

What does local news look like in your town?
Where do you get information? What’s missing?
We’re taking these questions on the road.
Throughout 2026, publishers, editors, and journalists from across New Hampshire—many of whom were once competitors—are coming together to do something different. Together, we’re stepping outside our newsrooms and into communities for a series of conversations we’re calling the Publisher’s Crawl.
We’re aiming to host conversations in every region of the state. We’ll keep it informal, welcoming—and yes, there will be snacks and a few small prizes. Just as important, we’ll be sharing what we hear after each event so communities across New Hampshire can learn from one another and help shape what comes next for local news in New Hampshire.
Admission is free, but registration is required. Scroll down for more details, or better yet, register now!

Easy to Grow Vegetables
See more + register: https://extension.unh.edu/event/2026/04/easy-grow-vegetables
Join UNH Extension Master Gardener Maureen Sinclair to learn how to start growing vegetables without getting overwhelmed. What are the “easy” vegetables to grow? How do you pick healthy plants from the garden center? What should we be observing in our gardens? All these questions and many more will be answered to help you maximize early successes, learn by doing, and have fun growing vegetables.
Logistics:
This presentation will take place both indoors and outdoors at the Massabesic Center. We’ll start with a lecture in the main conference room and then head out to the garden, weather-permitting, to observe vegetable garden practices in action. The small partially fenced vegetable garden at Massabesic produces 400-500 pounds of food every year, despite sharing some of our crops with the local wildlife.
Dress for the weather for the short, easy walk from the dirt parking lot to the building, and from the building to the gardens. The trail through the gardens is flat packed gravel, suitable for most mobility devices including walkers and wheelchairs. Muddy conditions may be present, especially if you choose to walk into the grassy areas surrounding some garden spaces. An email will be sent out the day before the program with weather expectations.
This program is intended for adults. Children are welcome, however in the event of disruptions, we ask that children are accompanied by a guardian to enjoy the Nature Lab or gardens until the presentation concludes. Accommodations for persons with limited mobility, sensory concerns, or other accessibility needs can be provided if you contact Massabesic Center Director Kimmie Whiteman in advance.
Cost:
$10 for NH Audubon members and UNH Extension Master Gardeners
$15 for non-members
Registration required by April 16th. If you miss the registration deadline, please email Kimmie Whiteman to inquire about availability. Walk-ins will be accepted if space allows, but late registrants may miss pre-workshop or cancellation communications. Limit 50 attendees.
This program is brought to you through an on-going partnership between New Hampshire Audubon and University of New Hampshire Extension’s Master Gardener Program. The Demonstration Gardens at NH Audubon’s Massabesic Center provide a place for sharing best practices in eco-friendly home and community gardening, which enhance human health and well-being and wildlife habitat.

NHPR By Degrees Climate Summit
See more + get tickets here.
Our fourth annual gathering will take place Friday, May 8 at Manchester Community College, bringing together community members and changemakers from across New Hampshire and beyond.
This year’s theme is community resilience, centered on a key question: How do communities come together to face shared environmental challenges?
We’ll be looking closely at water quality and environmental pollutants, including PFAS and other emerging contaminants, and the ways communities are creating change through policy, science, storytelling and collective action.
A key highlight of this year’s summit will be a solutions-based panel discussion hosted by Jason Moon centered on NHPR’s Safe to Drink podcast, along with an interactive Q&A featuring journalists and community organizers who are making a difference in their own backyards. Together, we’ll explore what resilience looks like when communities confront shared risks like PFAS exposure — and how collaboration can lead to meaningful, lasting change.
If you joined us last year, you know the summit is more than just a series of speakers. It is a space to hear from people entrenched in this work, ask real questions, and connect with others who care deeply about the future of our region.

The name says it all! This freestyle ski contest is out to prove who’s got true skills and style.
Leave your Jib skis at home because “Bump N’ Jump” is all about turns, air, and style!
The course will be a basic bump run with a kicker or two and potentially a rail thrown into the mix. Skiers will be judged on speed, style, and overall impression. Old school tricks such as Iron Crosses, Screaming Seamen’s and Daffy’s are highly encouraged!
Here at Ragged, we appreciate the roots in freestyle skiing. We want to see what this generation of Freeskiers can do when they are put into a scenario where control and style reign supreme.
Spectators will be able to see the event from the 6-pack chair lift and/or alongside the course. The course will be roped off to competitors and event personnel only. Please respect the rules!

Advocacy Network: Childcare Policy in NH
See more + RSVP for free here.
A free, virtual session from Stay Work Play.
Childcare is one of the most urgent workforce and economic issues facing New Hampshire today, and meaningful policy solutions are on the table right now.
Join Stay Work Play's Advocacy Network for a timely conversation focused on HB 1195, the “One State, One Code” childcare bill, which aims to remove unnecessary local barriers that delay or prevent new childcare programs from opening or expanding. By aligning municipal rules with state licensing standards, this legislation would help streamline approvals, increase childcare capacity, and support providers working to meet the overwhelming demand from families and employers.
This session will feature insights from:
Representative David Paige, prime sponsor of HB 1195
Natch Greyes, Vice President of Public Policy at the Business & Industry Association of NH
Together, we’ll explore:
• Why childcare infrastructure is a critical workforce issue• How local regulations impact providers and access to care
• What HB 1195 would change and why it matters now
• How advocates, employers, and community members can take action to help move solutions forward
Whether you are a childcare provider, employer, advocate, have a young family and are experiencing childcare obstacles or are simply passionate about building a stronger future for New Hampshire families, this meeting will equip you with the context, tools, and next steps to make your voice heard.
Because when childcare works, New Hampshire works.
